Poll results: What do you think about the fixed crosshair in the center of the screen in Arma ?
It would be unfair not to tell that we also created this poll in order to show a bit to BIS that the floating crosshair used in OFP was a great idea and would be something missed for the major part of OFP community.
Our visitors (79%) still prefer floating cursor instead of fixed cursor in the middle of the screen, probably because it is much more realistic and also because we do not want/need to see Armed Assault becoming a kind of Battlefield 2 clone.
Of course when OFP was released in 2001 several players used to classic FPS were a bit lost to not have their weapons’ movement 100% synchonised with the view, but it did not prevent OFP to become a blockbuster, even with the total lack of Codemasters’ advertisement about the game.
Marek Spanel wrote once a long time ago in an interview about Armed Assault’s planned features: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, all we can say is that we totally agree with him!
The bar above the results with the little flags inside represent the percentage of votes cast from the different language sections.
Also, to finish on a quick side note, as we use an IP detection some people may not be able to cast a vote if someone used the same IP or proxy server’s IP before them.
Edit: . Our forum member BigglesTrevor furthermore informed us , that the static crosshair can be switched off, at least in single player. Here is a short extract from the official FAQ:
-Is it possible to turn off the ‘fixed aim’? Yes. You can use the old non fixed aim from OFP if you want to.
